DFE-40 files (with soft foam layer) fit crescent base size 40, which is the standard crescent-shaped nail file base. DFE-42 files (thin, without foam) also fit crescent bases in size 42. ATS and AT adhesive tapes are designed for straight nail file bases (size 20) and come either as a spare roll (ATS) or in a convenient plastic dispensing case (AT).
