Care & Sterilisation

Keep your crescent nail files performing at their best with these care steps:

Sterilisation: These files are reusable and water-resistant. Clean with a brush and disinfectant solution between clients. The flexible plastic base and premium abrasive withstand standard salon disinfection methods.

After each client: Remove filing dust with a dry brush, then immerse or spray with an approved disinfectant according to your local health regulations.

Weekly: Inspect the abrasive surface for wear. The Exclusive-grade abrasive retains its properties significantly longer than standard files, but replace when grit feels noticeably smoother.

Storage: Store in a dry, clean tool organiser. Individual packaging can be reused for storage between appointments.

Replacement: Replace when the abrasive no longer cuts efficiently. With proper care, Exclusive files outlast standard mineral files by 3–5x.

About This Series

STALEKS PRO Exclusive represents the luxury tier of the STALEKS range, engineered for leading nail stylists and VIP-focused beauty salons. Exclusive crescent files are larger than their Expert counterparts (178 × 30 mm vs 162 × 25 mm), providing a broader working surface and more ergonomic grip. The premium aluminium oxide abrasive is specially formulated to resist crumbling and maintain cutting efficiency over extended use, making these files reusable rather than single-use. Individually packaged for a premium client experience, Exclusive files are the professional’s choice when service quality and presentation matter as much as technical performance.

FAQs

What is the difference between the crescent shape and a straight nail file?

The crescent (also called "banana" or "half-moon") shape has one curved side and one straight side. The curved side follows the natural contour of the cuticle area, making it safer and more precise for filing near the skin. The straight side is used for shaping the free edge of the nail. This dual-purpose design makes the crescent shape the most versatile file shape for professional manicure and pedicure.

How do I choose the right grit combination?

Match the grit to your client's nail type. For artificial nails (acrylic/gel), start with coarser grits: 80 for heavy removal, 100 for shaping, 150 for finishing. For natural nails, use finer grits: 180 for gentle shaping and 240 for final smoothing before coating. Dual-grit files like 100/180 or 150/240 let you shape and finish with a single tool. Never use grits below 150 on natural nails without extensions — the coarse abrasive can damage the nail plate.

What is the difference between Expert, Exclusive, and Smart crescent files?

Expert (NFE-40) files use the proprietary "Expert White" abrasive, come in 25-piece bulk packs, and are single-use disposables — ideal for high-volume salons prioritising hygiene. Exclusive (NFX-42) files are larger (178 × 30 mm), use a premium long-lasting abrasive, are reusable, and come individually packaged — designed for luxury salon experiences. Smart (NFB-41) files match Expert dimensions (162 × 25 mm) in convenient 5-piece sets, offering professional quality at a value price point.

Can mineral nail files be used with water (wet filing)?

Yes. STALEKS mineral nail files feature a water-resistant flexible plastic base that does not swell or degrade from contact with water. This makes them suitable for both dry and wet filing techniques, as well as safe for standard liquid disinfection between clients (Exclusive reusable files) or for use during wet manicure services.
